Computer stuff always seems to come in waves and right now I’m getting slammed.
Did you know that your computer can sound a sort of piercing alarm? It also has beeping tones and a ring tone. I’m not kidding. If you’ve never heard them, you’ve never burned up your power source or had a fan go bad and melt the video card.
About the third or fouth time I had to call in a specialist to fix the machine, the guy wanted to take it to the shop. I think he did that so he could say to the other guys, “Hey, have you ever seen anything like this?”
It’s mostly fixed now except the sound is out, but considering a few days ago I couldn’t turn it on at all, that’s an easy work-around.
I can’t remember how we used to write without computers, but we did. I even bought myself a new computer. That’s an incomplete fix because, like calendars, a right-thinking person should only have and maintain one. So my main computer is fixed, a backup computer is on order, and the Macintosh I use for my Mac-oriented forays … well, I turned it on yesterday and nothing happened.
Yikes.
