The Writing Life
Categories: Uncategorized

It’s near to Memorial Day weekend, which in Texas is generally celebrated by barbecues, parties, and fleeting encounters with people who look like this guy.

However, people like me tend to work through at least a portion of the holidays in order to (a) avoid holiday belching and (b) get more stuff done.

I want to share with you some cool stuff that I have found lately on the web and various resources that can benefit you.

You may want to check out UStream.com. This is a website sort of like YouTube except you stream live. It’s a way to have your own live TV show. How cool is that.

Have you started an online business and want to find out how much traffic or what kind of advertising your competitors are doing? Check out Spyfu.com. You can also use another site called Compete.com which helps you gauge traffic on major sites.

Are you doing social media? Check out Twitter.com and Facebook.com. If you’re job shopping, go to LinkedIn.com.

What about blogging? There are some blogs that I just love. Now you need to look at these blogs not from the perspective of content but rather as how well they master the format. My winner right now is TeamPyro.com, which is actually a Christian blog. It’s authored by several people so you don’t have the continuity of voice of most blogs, but it still works. And check out the art work–it’s very cool and entirely consistent across the site. Another blog that’s probably more up your alley is Creative Article Marketing. Very in-depth tips. I also like IGottaTellYou.com, by Jim Edwards, one of the guys I admire most in Internet marketing.

Check it out.
